How Insurance Helped the Biscoes

A personal account from Scott Biscoe

On March 18, 2008, I was traveling with my wife and son on I-20 to visit family and friends over spring break. It began as an average, rainy day but in a single instant, our lives were changed forever when our 2006 Nissan Altima was struck head-on by a three-quarter-ton pickup traveling at 80 mph.

I have no recollection of the accident. Unfortunately, my wife and son witnessed every moment. It’s a memory that will never be erased seeing me unconscious, broken and bloody.

After the accident, I endured five difficult months of hospitalization and rehab…and my family endured five difficult months of helping me through the hard times. We celebrated small daily victories, and slowly healed from the collective physical and mental damage the collision left behind for all of us.

The horrible accident serves as a reminder of the importance of auto insurance. It’s so important to not only have auto insurance, but also having adequate coverage. So many people overlook their liability limits and their Uninsured/Underinsured coverage, along with optional insurance coverages like Disability. But these are the coverages that helped us tremendously as we tried to piece our lives back together after this traumatic event.

We were able to achieve peace of mind in knowing that our losses would be covered, so we could focus on healing.

We were saved by the grace of God, and the scars we bear remind us on a daily basis. Everything good and bad happens for a reason. The accident has reinforced my commitment and my passion to ensure that every one of our clients is protected against the unexpected.
